The British Assessment Bureau

Our reputation was established in 1969 as a division of Salford University Business Services. In 1997, the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry approved the use of the word 'British' in our corporate title in recognition of our pre-eminent status.

Today, our core business is the assessment of people, services and organisations. We certify organisations to the latest ISO management standards and design and manage bespoke assessment schemes. Such schemes are based on the establishment of standards, which can be developed to be recognised company-wide, industry-wide, nationally or internationally.

Our brand is revered as a hallmark for quality and rigour. From Government agencies to owner-managed businesses, our clients depend on our systems and services to measure, test and monitor the competence and performance of their people and processes.

We have undertaken consultancy projects and certification work with a large range of clients, including Public and Private sectors, professional institutes, trade bodies and charities.

We are active in the area of setting national standards and are expert contributors to the influential British Standards Institute ‘QS/1’ Committee. This committee is charged with the responsibility for representing the UK in all new standards proposed to the International Standards Organisation (ISO).

We recognise that providing good service requires a well trained and motivated team of people and we are proud to be a registered Investor in People.

Above all else, we believe it is essential that we work with our clients as a true partner. Our maxim ‘without fear or favour’ typifies our ethical approach to such partnerships; we will never allow the fear of consequences or the promise of favour to influence our professional judgement.
